David Reese is an Associate with Fine, Boggs & Perkins LLP and is resident in the firm’s Long Beach office. He represents the firm’s clients in litigation and civil appeals throughout southern California. In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Reese also advises clients in employment law compliance and best practices. Through seminars, training sessions, and preparation and tailoring of employment handbooks, Mr. Reese helps clients avoid problems before they arise. In addition, Mr. Reese assists clients with day-to-day employment issues, including challenges to disciplinary action and termination decisions; allegations of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation; and issues relating to compensation, including minimum wage, overtime, and complicated commission and bonus compensation programs.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Reese worked as Director of Human Resources for an international aerospace and maritime partnership. Working out of the Office of the General Counsel, Mr. Reese developed, streamlined, and implemented best practices relating to personnel and worked closely with the executive team to identify and manage related risks. Before that, Mr. Reese was an associate with the northern California office of a large, national labor and employment law firm.
Mr. Reese received his J.D. from the University of California—Hastings College of the Law, in San Francisco. Prior to attending law school, he received a B.A. in Political Science from Brigham Young University. Before obtaining his undergraduate degree, Mr. Reese spent two years living and working in the Netherlands and Belgium and speaks, reads and writes fluent Dutch. Mr. Reese returned to the Netherlands during law school, spending a semester as a visiting student at the Rijksuniversitiet Leiden (State University of Leiden), to broaden his legal education and obtain a Continental perspective.
Mr. Reese is admitted to practice in California and various federal Districts and Circuits throughout California and Colorado.
